The Donegal News is one of Donegal’s oldest and most respected weekly newspapers. Based in Letterkenny the paper enjoys close to 80% household penetration in a town that has over 5,000 households and a population of 15,000 plus.
As well as Letterkenny, the Donegal News has been an integral part of community life throughout the North and West of the County including the main areas of:
Ballybofey, Bunbeg, Carrigart, Castlefin, Creeslough, Derrybeg, Dunfanaghy, Dungloe, Falcarragh, Gortahork, Inishowen, Letterkenny, Lifford, Milford, Newtowncunningham, Ramelton, Raphoe, Rathmullan, St. Johnston, Stranorlar and Termon. The Donegal News also has dedicated readers throughout Dublin and Scotland with the Donegal Irish links still very much alive.
The paper has moved on considerably from the traditional broadsheet and one edition a week format. During November 2006 the Donegal News launched its Monday edition and then moved with the times and changed the Friday paper from broadsheet to compact on 17th October 2008.
Today, the Monday edition is breaking down the old newspaper border line which split County Donegal in two and is gaining new readers in areas such as Ardara, Ballyshannon, Bundoran. Donegal Town, Glenties and Killybegs.
The Donegal News continues to grow every year and now has over 55,000 readers every week. The Friday edition is the No.1 newspaper choice in Donegal whilst the Monday edition is the Republic of Ireland’s fastest growing newspaper.
